Olgierd Bilinski
Most of my sculptures are carved from single stones whose natural color and structure form the fundation of the entire composition. the true shade of the material is enhanced only with a layet of oil and hand polishing. This process brings out the depth of the stone, leaving the form raw, authentic and close to nature.
In these works, the stone is hidden beneath a layer of paint, which does not so much change its appearance as gives it a new, intense expression. This deliberate departure from the rock's natural texture makes the sculpture more direct and easy to understand.
„Don't mix wood with stone” is a series of three sculptures in which a stone head and a wooden torso are covered with paint, blurring the boundaries between material and visual truth. This deliberate act opens a space for the viewer to question what defines the essence of a sculpture.
This deliberate act opens a space for the viewer to question what defines the essence of a scupture.
The sculpture „The Bride” explores the theme of the existential weight carried by a woman at a moment traditionally associated with purity, hope, and transformation. The contrast between the rawness of stone and the delicacy of the wedding dress reveals both fragility and strenght. It is a deeply personal reflection on love, memory, and the human condition.

BIO
My name is Olgierd Biliński (1971). I am a sculptor born in Gdansk, and for the past fifteen years I have lived and created in Kashubia in the immediate surroundings of forests, rivers and lakes. My artistic practice involves both working with material and observing the environment which I consider an integral part of the process. The stone represents durability, the passage of time and a certain form of immortality. Scalpture and landscape function here in parallel.
In my video work and documentacion I am not only to present my sculptures but also to draw attention to the beauty and rhythm of nature which continually shapes the way I think. I invite you on a reflective walk among these unique sculptural forms.
Privately: one loving wife, three cats we adore, and two dogs - George and Michael.
